Ministry Distinctive
OVERALL REFLECTION
For my competence in intercultural studies, I am submitting a synthetic chart of Romans (1-8), as well as a cultural assessment of Minnesota, which demonstrates a few of my ministry distinctive, in both the area of intercultural studies and biblical exegesis. I was able to do a cultural study on my own home culture that helped me identify what perceptions I take, and therefore blind spots in my own perceptions. Through careful study of the word, I was able to have not only a better understanding of the structural outlines of biblical books but a deeper appreciation for them as well.
Learning Reflection
As I developed and demonstrated my ministry distinctive in intercultural studies, I learned that I had been a little blind to my own cultural heritage. Through the careful study of the culture in which I grew up, I was able to identify many different preconceptions that I make due to the influences of how I was raised. This also helped me be more appreciative of other cultures and the influences that are put on people from that culture. I also learned that though I have had some bible knowledge, being that I graduated from a Christian high school, I should not be so conceited to think that I know all there is to know. In fact, there is a great wealth of knowledge and understanding still waiting for me, and the joy is in discovering it.
Lifelong Development Reflection
As a result of the experiences documented by these artifacts, I will continue to develop in intercultural studies by intentionally seeking others from different cultural backgrounds, to listen to and learn from them. I will also continue to devote myself to the understanding of God’s word, continuing to map out books for a better understanding of who God is, and what His will is. I will piece these together by sharing what I know through community groups, and teachings, so that all may know the greatness that God has in store for people from every tribe and tongue.
